"Bookmarks have changed quite a bit through the years. No, I’m not talking about those things that you stick in books, but instead, I’m talking about Web site bookmarks that you use in your Web browser. They used to be very basic, and you couldn’t really do very much with them. These days you can access them through the Internet no matter where you are, share them with friends, and so on. Since it’s mentally impossible to remember all of the Web sites that you like, it’s important to use bookmarks to some extent, and NetRocket will enhance how you use your bookmarks.

Like other online bookmarking services, NetRocket uses a browser toolbar button to connect you with the service, and you can easily add, tag, and share all of your bookmarks. A lot of the other functionality is similar to what you’ve seen in other services as well, but one of the specific things that I like about NetRocket is that you can schedule reminders to visit certain sites at certain times. Personally, I stay very busy while I’m working, and being able to have NetRocket notify me when I should be looking at a Web site is pretty cool. Not everyone will find this to be useful, but if you need something like this, then here’s your answer."

gulfnews.com - Social bookmarking made easy
"NetRocket.com has been coming up a lot on my radar recently, but social book-marking just never caught my attention. However, I've found myself using the site frequently. Web browsers have had the ability to mark your favourite websites, but NetRocket also lets everyone else (privacy-setting permitting) view your favourite links. NetRocket does a very good job of categorising, tagging and displaying links. For starters, there is a 'scheduled' list for recurring sites, such as newfeeds, a 'to view' list and a 'full' list.

The 'to view' list is useful to those of us who like to mark interesting sites, but may not find all the sites as interesting the second time around. So, instead of allowing the list to grow until it is uncontrollable, NetRocket's 'to view' list allows sites to simple expire. Ignore a link for a few weeks, and it will simply go away. It you like a website, you can graduate it to the 'full' or permanent list. Every site you mark can also be tagged, which means you get to add your own keywords to describe it. You can also categorise your bookmarks into blogs, news, technology etc. The site also lets you to separate your business and personal sites.

The site also has browser tools, which makes adding links to the page even easier."

KillerStartups.com: NetRocket.com - Not to Be Missed Bookmarking Grows Up
"NetRocket is a social bookmarking site in synch with the modern age. With all the information that’s available and the limited time we have for digesting it all, this site, manages to make things simpler. It allows you to bookmark and store pages within your browser. A noteworthy feature is its scheduling option—you can schedule your bookmark to appear on a certain date or on a recurring basis; this proves quite useful for auction and shopping sites. NetRocket also issues reminders for you to look at your bookmarks. It deletes bookmarks you haven’t used in a while; you can tag bookmarks too. Private and public options are available. They offer several different browser buttons (IE, Mozilla, Opera, etc).

NetRocket offers up some unique and useful features. The scheduling option, for one is incredibly versatile. It’s perfect for reminding yourself to go to a site for research if you’re a student, for checking out eBay if there’s a sale, or for sending yourself email reminders to update your profile or blog. The To View option is a good way to combat clutter and to organize sites that you need for a short period of time."

WorldStart.com Newsletters - amanda's cool site
"Finally! A Web site that lets you store all of your bookmarks in one place and is 100 percent free. It is really easy to get started with too. Just click Create Account beneath the username field. You do need an account, because it will keep track of all your bookmarks, allowing you to access them from anywhere.

To register, just fill in the fields: Username, E-mail Address, Password, Security Question (this is a drop down box), Answer and Time Zone. Then just agree to their terms and conditions and click Register. There’s nothing to confirm, so you can get started right away!

After you’ve registered, they will start you off by having you get netRocket buttons for your favorite browser. Right now, I’m a fan of Opera, so I chose that one. Once you’ve selected your browser, you will get a browser specific installation guide to get your netRocket button installed. Just follow the instructions to get it all set up.

If you run into any snags, check out the Rocket Manual link at the top of the page. You'll also find great tips on how to get the most out of netRocket there too!

This site is great for me, because with all the sites I research, I can schedule reminders for myself to go back and look at something I didn’t really have time to check out at the time. That way, I won’t forget to investigate what could be a really cool site. I think the scheduling feature is probably my favorite on netRocket!

Another nice feature is being able to label the sites I bookmark with tags. With that, if I’m looking for a specific kind of site, I can just click on the tag and browse through my bookmarks that fall into that category. An example of tag categories in my links would be: Music, Art and Funny.

I hope you all get as much use out of this site as I already have!"

Orangeinks.com - NetRocket for Easy Bookmark Management
"Are you finding it hard to manage your bookmarks scattered in different bookmarking sites and your browser? Here’s something that can make your life easier when it comes to managing your bookmarks:

NetRocket is a bookmarking service where you can easily bookmark a page through your browser. Sounds pretty ordinary, but the interesting thing about this web service is the way it lets you categorize your bookmarks for easier searching and management. You can even schedule your book mark to appear on a specific date or on a recurring basis of your choice. You may find a website that updates on a regular basis, is running an auction/sale/deal/article of interest at some advertised point in the future, or that you’d like to visit at regular intervals.

NetRocket also features a tag cloud of your keywords for your bookmarks. It also lets you import your bookmarks from your browser into NetRocket by using the import/export tool. Privacy is not an issue in NetRocket for you can set your bookmarks to be viewed publicly or choose to keep it to your self. If you choose to keep a URL private then it will not show in your bookmark RSS feed.

Another thing that I like about NetRocket is the interface. It is user-friendly with a nice and clean look which makes managing easier. An additional feature called hot destinations adds usability to the site by letting the user discover new sites by displaying their Top Five Tags, Top Ten Bookmarks and a list of recent additions to NetRocket. If you are a bookmark freak, maybe you should give it a try."

Helping Users Organize Their Favorite Sites on the Internet
Baltimore, MD, December 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Most web users are constantly finding websites and articles that contain information they find interesting. Whether it’s an online comic, work-related article, research resources, blogs or their favorite holiday recipes, its information they want to have access to at a later point in time. The problem is that according to an article published in 2007 by pandia.com (see http://www.pandia.com/sew/383-web-size.html) there are an estimated 15 – 30 billion web pages and counting. As a result, finding that content is tough; organizing it once it is found, is near impossible. Even if one were able to effectively organize the information, there’s no guarantee that the user will remember to return to the site.

Although browsers offer bookmarks, anyone with more than 30 will begin to see, that while it is a good concept, it simply doesn't go far enough. Recent additions of online social bookmarking systems have stepped in the right direction. These systems give users the ability to organize their bookmarks and to store them in a centralized location so that they are accessible from any machine at any time. While these systems are somewhat effective, the possibility for a more robust system existed.

Recently, the launch of a new service took another step in organizing the chaos of the web. iSend, a small internet startup firm, located in Baltimore, MD, launched the netrocket.com site. The most powerful option of the new system is its ability to schedule individual or recurring reminders to visit users’ favorite web pages, making it easier than ever to get the winning bid on an eBay auction, pay bills on time and stay up to date on relevant news and topics of interest. It also offers the user more options for granular classification, giving them more criteria to search on. This makes finding a bookmark simple and efficient inside the netRocket structure.

"In my everyday life, both personal and professional, I was finding that I was losing track of a lot of useful information and resources. I kept trying to e-mail myself links, write them down on a piece of paper, schedule reminders in my PDA, etc. and it was driving me crazy so I set out to find a tool that would help me manage my online activities more efficiently” explained Uri Kerbel, netRocket’s CTO, when asked about the motivation behind the netRocket concept. “I found a bunch of great sites and tools but none of them were filling this need properly and to make matters worse most seemed overly concerned about the community as a whole rather than focusing on the individual's needs and the fact that our time and organization are extremely important. So I decided to give this need some serious analysis and figure out a way to solve this problem and the rest is history" says Kerbel.

The netRocket.com team claims that their product differentiates itself from comparable sites by focusing first and foremost on the individual and their needs. The business idea stemmed from a true practical need that the founders felt was not being adequately addressed. They carried out one-on-one sessions and discussion groups with a diverse group of real-world users to ensure that they were solving the problem at hand. The goal is to provide a free service that helps people manage their time and keep track of all their online information in a smart and efficient manner.

iSend is a web development company established in 2006 that is dedicated to developing online services that will improve the user experience on the web.
